Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced ongoing communications between his team and key figures in President Donald Trump’s administration, including National Security Adviser Michael Waltz and Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg.
“We already have working dates when the American team will arrive. Now the dates and members of the delegation are being agreed upon, and we are waiting for the team. We will work together,” Zelenskyy stated.
These discussions aim to arrange a visit by a U.S. delegation to Kyiv, reflecting efforts to bolster bilateral ties and address the ongoing conflict with Russia. Zelenskyy emphasized that direct engagement with the Trump administration is critical to ensuring continued support for Ukraine’s war efforts.
Zelenskyy’s Chief of Staff, Andriy Yermak, has engaged in talks with Waltz, focusing on battlefield developments and Ukraine’s mobilization efforts. The discussions also highlighted the importance of high-level communication between Presidents Zelenskyy and Trump. While U.S. assistance to Ukraine remains a key issue in Washington, the Trump administration is evaluating its approach to the war, emphasizing accountability and strategic benefits for the United States.
In a recent statement, President Trump suggested that Ukraine could supply the U.S. with rare earth elements and other resources in exchange for financial support in its war efforts. Zelenskyy responded by expressing openness to investment from allies aiding Ukraine, highlighting the fairness of such partnerships in strengthening the nation’s defense capabilities. Ukrainian officials have stressed that securing a direct dialogue with Trump is a priority, as his administration reconsiders its role in the conflict.
As Ukraine continues its fight against Russian aggression, Kyiv is working to maintain U.S. military and economic support while navigating shifting political dynamics in Washington. The outcome of these discussions could influence the future of U.S.-Ukraine relations and the broader geopolitical landscape.
