- A youth soccer coach in Franklin, Tennessee has been accused of raping unconscious boys after restaurant employees discovered disturbing videos on his phone.
- The Franklin Police Department has said the case is one of the most “egregious” and “shocking” investigations they have seen.
- “This is by far one of the most shocking and egregious child sex cases that our department has seen,” Lt. Carlie Warner with the Franklin Police Department said.
- “As a two-and-a-half-decade police officer here at Franklin and for being a dad for about as long, this case and the contents and what’s been described to me is so disheartening to think what happened to kids in our community actually happened,” Lt. Watner explained.
- Sixty-three-year-old Camilo Hurtado Campos, an illegal immigrant, was arrested, reportedly surprised about the situation, after he forgot his phone at a pizza restaurant.
- Employees at the restaurant recovered his phone and in trying to contact him, found videos of Campos raping unconscious boys between the ages of 9 and 17.
- “Mortified, astonished, disgusted, just trying to process and breathe and think,” said Joshua LaRue when describing how he felt after viewing the disturbing footage.
- Police said that Campos recruited boys by visiting playgrounds and soccer fields, gaining their trust, and then drugging and raping the minors.
- According to investigators, the minors were in “such an unconscious state” that some boys may “not even realize that they are victims.”
- Parents in the area are using the situation as an opportunity to push for stricter laws against child predators as well as to educate their children on how to be cautious and stay safe.
- Political activist Robby Starbuck staid that predators “need to be afraid if they try anything to hurt children in Tennessee, they will receive the worst consequence possible,” including possibly the death penalty.

- Officials have now learned that Campos is an illegal immigrant.
- Tennessee State Senator Jack Johnson (R) believes the incident creates a strong case for secure borders.
- “Well first and foremost we need to secure our borders so we make sure monsters like this aren’t coming into the country every single day,” he said. “This is a good example of why we should know who’s coming into the country, we should know about their criminal record.”
- U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R) tweeted, “Today we learned that the Tennessee soccer coach charged with assaulting and brutally raping several young children is an illegal alien. The sexual abuse of children is one of the most heinous crimes imaginable, and my heart breaks for the victims and their families.”
- “This outrageous tragedy is further evidence that we need to build the wall now. Until our border is secured, every town is a border town, and criminals will continue to have free reign throughout the nation,” she added.
BACKGROUND:
- An illegal immigrant was recently sentenced to life in prison after raping a nine-year-old girl.
- However, Gerson Fuentes is only required to serve 25-30 years before being eligible for parole, the outcome of a plea deal.
- “Today, by the request of the family, this court will be sentencing without comment – and everyone knows how hard that’s going to be, because the court considers this the worst of [offenses],” the judge said.
- The 9-year-old was impregnated by Fuentes and traveled to another state to receive an abortion.
