One of the men who allegedly attempted to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump, Ryan Routh, sent a letter to Politico.
The outlet began its report by noting that Trump has blamed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the attempts on his life. The statement suggests that the claims were “unfair” to the president and vice president, Breitbart explained.
Politico went on to claim that Routh’s letter is “newsworthy.”
“Routh’s new correspondence may shed some light on what drove him to make an attempt on Trump’s life — though we should also approach it with a measure of caution,” Politico reported. He may simply be a deeply disturbed individual.”
Routh claimed in the letter that he has no Democratic affiliation, instead asserting that he is an “independent” who votes for the “best candidate.”
He went on to label Trump as a “dictator” and said that if he lost the election, Americans should “encircle the capitol” to prevent a riot.
Breitbart noted that the statement suggests the letter was written before the 2024 Presidential Election.
Routh goes on to compare himself to Thomas Matthew Crooks, the Trump shooter from the July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Routh noted that both he and Crooks were “ready to die for freedom and democracy.”
The letter concluded with Routh calling for the U.S. to “demand that Israel stop their attacks and demand that all parties come to the table and find common ground.”
“My fellowmen, please demand peace,” he wrote.
