Wikipedia Sparks Outrage by Calling Maduro’s Capture, ‘Abduction’

Leftist online source Wikipedia wasted no time in defining the Trump administration’s capture of Venezuela’s socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, as something less than a triumphant moment.

Within hours of the successful operation, an entry on the Wikipedia page dedicated to Cilia Flores described the incident as an “abduction.”

Maduro, who maintained his grip on power through several sham presidential elections, was actively wanted by U.S. authorities on multiple narco‑terrorism charges. U.S. law enforcement had a $50 million bounty on information leading to his arrest and/or conviction.

In 2020, U.S. courts accused Maduro of being a leading figure, if not the leader, of the Cartel of the Suns, a cocaine trafficking network run by top members of the Venezuelan regime that allegedly sought to “flood” the United States with cocaine to harm its people.

Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were captured and flown out of the country on Saturday night following a series of explosions in Caracas. President Trump confirmed the operation on Truth Social, saying the United States “successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country.”

The couple are scheduled to appear in U.S. federal court on Monday to face narco‑terrorism charges.
