White House Weighs Tomahawks Missiles for Ukraine

Vice President JD Vance said during an appearance on Fox News Sunday that the White House is considering sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine via European allies.

“It’s something the President’s going to make the final determination on,” Vance said of the missiles, noting, “I’ll let the president speak to it, but I know that we’re having conversations this very minute about that issue.”

“I think what has really worked about the president’s policy in Ukraine and Russia is that it’s forced the Europeans to step up in a big way. We’re no longer just giving tons of money and weapons. What we’re doing is asking the Europeans to buy that weaponry,” he explained. “That shows some European skin in the game. I think that gets them really invested in both what’s happening in their own backyard, but also in the peace process that the President has been pushing for the last eight months.”

President Trump told NBC News in July that the United States plans to send weapons to NATO, who will distribute the materials to Ukraine.

“We’re sending weapons to NATO, and NATO is paying for those weapons, 100%. So what we’re doing is the weapons that are going out are going to NATO, and then NATO is going to be giving those weapons [to Ukraine], and NATO is paying for those weapons,” Trump said. “We send weapons to NATO, and NATO is going to reimburse the full cost of those weapons.”

The military alliance’s secretary general, Mark Rutte, confirmed at the time that he had spoken with President Trump and is “working closely with Allies to get Ukraine the help they need.”
