White House Calls Illegal Immigrants ‘Newcomers’

The White House called illegal immigrants “newcomers” in a new brief.

The brief, concerning a bipartisan bill on border security, says, “The bill also includes $1.4 billion for cities and states who are providing critical services to newcomers, and would expedite work permits for people who are in the country and qualify.”

“Over several months, his Administration negotiated with a bipartisan group of Senators to release a bill that includes the toughest and fairest reforms to secure the border we have had in decades. It would make our country safer, make our border more secure, and treat people fairly and humanely while preserving legal immigration, consistent with our nation’s values,” the brief states.

The fact sheet blames House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) for the lack of border security. “The bill received support from the Border Patrol Union, the Chamber of Commerce, the South Texas Alliance of Cities, and the Wall Street Journal – but Speaker Mike Johnson and House Republicans have decided to play politics at the expense of border security,” it reads.

According to one X user, Biden’s border bill contains “$20B for border security, funds for 1,500+ new CBP personnel, funds for 4,300+ asylum officers, funds additional 10K beds for illegals, funds for more immigration judges, install fentanyl detection machines,” and “increase funding to cities and states providing aid to illegals.”

Greg Price from the State Freedom Caucus Network shared the bill on social media last month, writing, “Not only does this bill codify 1.5 million illegal border crossings into law, but the ‘border emergency’ that automatically gets implemented at 5,000 crossings per day in a week can be overturned by Joe Biden.”

“And in case 1.5 million illegals isn’t enough, it also locks in green card giveaways through 2030.”

On February 29, Biden visited Brownsville, Texas, to visit the border and discuss the bipartisan legislation.

Ahead of his travels, the Border Patrol Union ridiculed Biden’s visit as a plot to save his presidency at the expense of Americans’ safety.

The union argued that “there would be no point in visiting the border now.”

“But even if he were to put the proper policies in place at this late hour, he’d be doing it only to try to save his Presidency. And self-serving actions when time is winding down should always give Americans pause. Common sense dictates that as a lame duck, he’d revert to his open border policies if re-elected,” the union said.
