Whistleblowers alleged that FEMA workers were ordered to skip over homes bearing pro-Donald Trump signs in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.
Internal correspondence exclusively obtained by The Daily Wire suggests FEMA discriminated against Trump supporters. Several people familiar with the matter told the outlet that a FEMA supervisor told workers to “avoid homes advertising Trump.”
FEMA bypassed at least 20 homes.
“I know they’re short-staffed, I thought we could go help and make a difference,” one of the employees told The Daily Wire. “When we got there we were told to discriminate against people. It’s almost unbelievable to think that somebody in the federal government would think that’s okay.”
It remains unknown whether this guidance applied to FEMA’s response in other areas devastated by hurricanes.
FEMA workers wrote in an internal system that some addresses were unable to be accessed due to “Trump sign no entry per leadership,” “Per leadership no stop Trump flag,” “Trump sign,” and “Trump sign, no contact per leadership.”
A FEMA spokesperson later told the outlet, in part, that it believes the situation was an “isolated incident” and has “taken measures to remove the employee from their role and are investigating the matter to prevent this from happening ever again.”
