Walt Disney World and Disneyland are both ending their mask requirements for the fully vaccinated this Thursday.
QUICK FACTS:
- The theme parks in California and Florida are ditching facial coverings for those who have received all jabs, according to an update on Walt Disney World’s website.
- “Face coverings will be optional for fully vaccinated Guests in both outdoor and indoor locations,” the website states. “We expect Guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, including indoor attractions and theaters.”
- Both parks have required masks to be worn since the beginning of the pandemic, although outdoor mandates were dropped this past summer.
DISNEY’S MASK REQUIREMENTS STILL IN PLACE:
“Face coverings will still be required by all Guests (ages 2 and up) on enclosed Disney transportation, including Disney buses, monorails, and Disney Skyliner.”
BACKGROUND:
- Disney World employees made headlines in Sept. 2021 when they led a protest outside the park when the company mandated all its salaried and non-union hourly staffers in the United States be fully vaccinated against COVID.
- “People are free to get this vaccine if they feel it’s going to be the best thing for them,” cast member Nick Caturano said. “But to force people to get the vaccine, that’s another story.”
- According to their website, Disney continues to encourage everyone to get vaccinated.
