Vice President Harris Takes Aim at Trump, Vows to Outshine Him on Immigration and Economic Policy

At a rally in Atlanta, Georgia, highlighted by a performance from Megan Thee Stallion, Vice President Kamala Harris launched a fervent critique of former President Donald Trump, labeling him as a “predator” who has engaged in “sexual abuse” and fraud.

In her speech, Harris aimed to set a clear distinction between her track record and that of the GOP’s presidential candidate. “Before my tenure as vice president and my service as a United States senator, I held the roles of attorney general and district attorney—and even before that, I worked as a courtroom prosecutor.

She continued, “Throughout these roles, I’ve confronted various perpetrators: from those who abused women, to the fraudsters cheating consumers, and the rule-breakers seeking personal gain. Thus, I want you to understand, I’m familiar with Donald Trump’s kind.”

She further explained her extensive experience in dealing with individuals resembling Trump’s character. “My entire career has been about tackling people like him,” Harris went on.

“Take, for instance, my efforts as California’s attorney general against a for-profit college defrauding students. Coincidentally, Donald Trump managed a similar for-profit college that defrauded students. My specialization in prosecuting child sex-abuse cases as a prosecutor also parallels Trump being found liable for such abuse. Moreover, as attorney general, I held major Wall Street banks to account for fraud, a crime Trump has recently been found guilty of.”

Harris then aimed to bolster her image on dealing with immigration, amidst criticism over her role as President Biden’s so-called “border czar” amid rising illegal immigration levels.

Proudly reflecting on her record, Harris stated, “In this campaign, I can confidently compare my record with his any day, including on immigration.” She highlighted her active involvement in combating illegal immigration as California’s attorney general, from traversing underground tunnels at the U.S.-Mexico border alongside law enforcement to prosecuting international gangs and drug cartels.

However, it’s important to note, as America First Legal pointed out, that Harris’s tenure as attorney general saw her clashing with federal immigration enforcement efforts, including her defense of San Francisco’s sanctuary-city ordinance and opposition to California’s involvement in the Secure Communities program, aimed at enabling ICE to remove criminal aliens.

Addressing Trump’s approach to border control, Harris criticized him for not living up to his rhetoric. This comes as the Biden-Harris administration faces observations of a significant rise in illegal immigration, with an estimated 20 million illegal immigrants currently in the U.S., a figure that has sparked considerable debate.

In her speech, Harris also touched upon economic issues, expressing a vision for a future bolstered by opportunities for building businesses, homeownership, and creating intergenerational wealth. Despite criticisms of the Biden administration’s economic policies, particularly around inflation and housing affordability, Harris affirmed her commitment to elevating the middle class, framing it as a central objective of her potential presidency.
