U.S Military Eliminates Terrorists in Syria

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that U.S. military eliminated 37 terrorists in Syria.

Several of the terrorists targeted and eliminated included “multiple senior leaders of the terrorist organizations of ISIS and Hurras al-Din, an Al Qaeda affiliate,” a statement from CENTCOM read.

The strikes occurred on September 16 and September 24. The first strike eliminated “at least 28 ISIS operatives, including at least four senior leaders,” CENTOM said, noting that it disrupted the terrorist organization’s “capability to conduct operations against U.S. interests, as well as our allies and partners.”

The second airstrike eliminated nine terrorists.

CENTCOM Commander Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla said, “These strikes against leadership and operatives of ISIS and the Al Qaeda affiliate, Hurras al-Din, represent CENTCOM’s commitment to the enduring defeat of terrorist organizations in the CENTCOM area of responsibility and our support to regional stability.”

No civilians are believed to have been harmed in the strikes.

According to the Associated Press, there are 900 U.S. forces in Syria.
