Turning Point USA is preparing its effort to get Vice President JD Vance elected in 2028. According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, TPUSA intends to send representatives to Iowa’s 99 counties to lay the groundwork for a future Vance campaign.
Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, endorsed Vance during the recent Turning Point USA conference. “We are locked in and mission-focused for both 2026 and 2028,” she told the audience, describing that the organization aims to invest “in states and not just in races. So what I mean by that is we are building the red wall — Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire. That’s going to be very important to us.” Kirk added, “We are going to get my husband’s friend JD Vance elected for 48 in the most resounding way possible.”
“President Trump did not build the greatest coalition in politics by running his supporters through endless, self-defeating purity tests. We don’t care if you’re white or black, rich or poor, young or old, rural or urban, controversial or a little bit boring or somewhere in between,” Vance said at the event. “People of every faith come to our banner because they know that the America First movement will make their lives better,” Vance said at the conference. “I know some of are discouraged by the infighting over any number of issues. Don’t be discouraged. Wouldn’t you rather lead a movement of free thinkers, who sometimes disagree, than a bunch of drones who take their orders from George Soros?”
Meanwhile, poll data finds Vance and California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) nearly tied in a hypothetical 2028 matchup. An Emerson College survey finds Vance with 46% support and Newsom with 45% support. A separate poll from M. Consult finds Vance with 42% support and Newsom with 41% support.
