Truth Social, the social media platform owned by former President Donald Trump, reported experiencing a record volume of traffic Thursday night as Trump utilized the platform to offer point-by-point responses to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address.
While Truth Social did not furnish specific traffic statistics, it acknowledged a significant surge that caused intermittent delays for some users attempting to access the platform at the outset of the speech.
Trump, who uses the platform exclusively for his social commentary, has positioned Truth Social as the sole social media site featuring content from both himself and Biden. Notably, Biden’s campaign recently established an account on Truth Social.
Throughout Biden’s speech, Trump essentially live-blogged his reactions on the platform, commencing with commentary on Biden’s tardiness. Trump posted dozens of responses during the speech, spanning critiques of Biden’s policies (“He’s talking about Violence, but Migrant Violence is leading to the Worst Crime Wave in History!”) to advisories directed at lawmakers (“Don’t shake his hand, he’s been coughing into it the entire night!”).
