Trump Warns Against Dallas NYSE Site

President Donald Trump criticized the New York Stock Exchange’s (NYSE) expansion in Dallas, Texas, stating that it would be detrimental to New York and serves as a test for New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

“Building a ‘New York Stock Exchange’ in Dallas is an UNBELIEVABLY BAD THING FOR NEW YORK,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I can’t believe they would let this happen. A big test for the new Mayor!”

Upon announcing the development of the Dallas office in February 2025, Lynn Martin, President of NYSE Group, said in a statement, “As the state with the largest number of NYSE listings, representing over $3.7 trillion in market value for our community, Texas is a market leader in fostering a pro-business atmosphere. We are delighted to expand our presence in the Lone Star State, which plays a key role in driving our U.S. economy forward.”

The launch of NYSE Texas will “provide public companies with a listing and trading venue centered within the vibrant economy of the southwestern U.S.,” a press release said at the time. “With this launch, NYSE Texas will deliver a listing exchange to companies incorporated both in Texas and around the world that are attracted to Texas’ growing population, strong economy and business-friendly regulatory agenda.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) said of last year’s announcement that the NSE Texas will expand the state’s “financial might” and “cement our great state as an economic powerhouse on the global stage.”

“Working together, we will continue to advance pro-growth economic policies that allow entrepreneurs and businesses to thrive and will make Texas stronger and more prosperous than ever in the history of our great state,” Abbott added.
