President-elect Donald Trump is prepared to challenge President Joe Biden’s recent push to implement a sweeping ban on new oil and gas drilling in certain federal waters. According to a statement by Trump’s spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, the incoming administration will not allow Biden’s policy to hinder efforts to provide Americans with abundant and affordable energy.
Biden’s proposed ban, which targets vast stretches of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans along with other federal waters, is part of his ongoing push to promote environmental policies. Insiders familiar with the administration’s strategy have indicated that this move is designed to make it difficult for future administrations, particularly those with a pro-energy agenda, to reverse it.
“This is a disgraceful decision designed to exact political revenge on the American people who gave President Trump a mandate to increase drilling and lower gas prices,” Leavitt stated in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News. “Joe Biden clearly wants high gas prices to be his legacy. Rest assured, Joe Biden will fail, and we will drill, baby, drill.”
Biden is reportedly planning to invoke the 1953 Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to block future oil and gas leasing in federal waters. This provision would give the President authority to withdraw key offshore areas from energy development, effectively making it more difficult for subsequent administrations to restore energy independence.
