Trump Throws Support Behind Orbán

President Donald Trump threw his support behind Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán ahead of parliamentary elections coming this spring.

In a letter addressed to Orbán, Trump wrote that his “bold leadership serves as an example for the rest of the world.”

“You have always stood firm to defend the principles that make Hungary such a tremendous place – faith, family, and sovereignty. America admires that kind of courage,” the letter read, adding, “Thank you once again for your friendship and support. I also want to wish you the best of luck with your electoral campaign in Hungary.”

Sharing the letter on X, Orbán wrote, “Grateful for President @realDonaldTrump ’s kind words and continued friendship. U.S.-Hungary relations are stronger than ever, built on shared values as patriots. Looking forward to hosting him and his team in Budapest!”

After President Trump’s second inauguration in 2025, Orbán declared that “George Soros has lost the battle in America; I’d say that America has been liberated by Donald Trump, and Soros’s troops have now retreated to Brussels.” Speaking to Kossuth Radio, the prime minister stated that the “most important foreign policy goal for 2025 is to push the Soros Empire out of Europe, to push them back to America, and then President Trump can do what he sees fit with them.”

Orbán noted that he and Trump have “come to an agreement that we’re going to have a golden age, because the Republicans aren’t disinclined to think on an ambitious scale or to express themselves in bold terms; so we’re going to have a fantastic, ambitious golden age in US–Hungarian relations.”
