Trump Threatens Universities with Loss of Funding Over Antisemitism

On Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump announced that American universities must eliminate campus antisemitism or risk losing their accreditation and federal funding. Speaking at an anti-antisemitism rally in Washington, Trump declared that in his first week back in the Oval Office, his administration would notify college presidents that any failure to address antisemitic propaganda would result in the loss of accreditation and taxpayer support.

“Truth is, you don’t have to do much after that. When you do that, it’s gonna work miracles,” he said, drawing cheers from the crowd. He emphasized, “We will not subsidize the creation of terrorist sympathizers, and we’re not going to do it – certainly on American soil.”

Trump also stated that educational institutions allowing violence or harassment against Jewish students would be “held accountable for violations of the civil rights law.” He affirmed that Jewish Americans would receive equal protection under the law, adding that his administration would prioritize the safety of Jewish students and the broader Jewish community across the country.

During his previous term, Trump signed an executive order to strengthen protections against antisemitism, recognizing Jews as a protected minority under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.

He has also been credited with appointing a notably pro-Israel group of cabinet and administration members, including figures like Marco Rubio, Elise Stefanik, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, Pete Hegseth, Lee Zeldin, Mick Huckabee, and Mike Waltz.
