President Trump said during an interview that Iran has “already agreed” to drop its nuclear weapon ambitions.
Speaking during an interview with The New York Post’s “Pod Force One” podcast, President Trump said, “I did have to say we have to do something about Iran, because regardless of how well we’re doing, we can’t let them have a nuclear weapon. They’ve already agreed they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon.”
When pressed for more information, Trump reiterated to host Miranda Devine that Iran “agreed to that,” although he noted that “they can change their mind, but that was one of the things they’ve had to agree, they’ve agreed to that. That was the big thing.”
When asked about his reported heated discussion with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump said that while he would not describe his demeanor during the conversation as having been “angry,” he acknowledged he was “a little bit perturbed at his constantly fighting with Lebanon.”
“You know, at some point I said, ‘Bibi we gotta stop this, we gotta stop it,'” Trump explained, adding, “But I have a very good relationship. We’ve done well together. He always says we could never have done it, but everybody knows that we could have never done it without the United States. But we’ve worked very well together.”
Trump’s discussion with Netanyahu surrounded the president’s ongoing efforts to facilitate peace between Israel and Lebanon. “I had a very productive call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, and there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post this week. “Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.”
