Trump Prosecutor Launches ‘Operation Whirlwind’ Targeting Democrats’ Threatening Statements

Acting DC Attorney Ed Martin, who President Donald Trump nominated to be the district’s top prosecutor permanently, launched “Operation Whirlwind” to investigate those who have made threats against public officials.

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Representative Robert Garcia (D-CA) are the first to have received inquiry letters for controversial comments.

In his letter to Schumer, Martin wrote, “I remind you: no one is above the law.” The letter pertains to Schumer’s threats against conservative Supreme Court Justices. Martin previously requested that Schumer clarify a comment he made in 2020 that “many found threatening.”

“I want to tell you Gorsuch. I want to tell you Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price,” Schumer said. “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

In a letter to Garcia, Martin requested that the representative clarify his comments from February 12, 2025.

“During a live interview with CNN, when asked how Democrats can stop Elon Musk, you spoke clearly: ‘What the American public wants is for us to bring actual weapons to this bar fight. This is an actual fight for democracy,'” Martin wrote, quoting Garcia.

Martin noted that the statement “sounds to some like a threat to Mr. Musk – an appointed representative of President Donald Trump.”

Following Garcia’s comments, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) announced that she and other Republicans would be filing a motion to censure Garcia.

“The Left is officially out of control. Last night, Democrat Rep. Robert Garcia called for ‘ACTUAL WEAPONS’ to be used against Elon Musk,” Mace wrote. “How many more times will Democrats incite violence against the president of the United States or Republicans on national television?”
