Trump Proposes New Fighter Jet

The United States is considering the development of a new warplane to be called the F-55, President Donald Trump said.

“The F-35, we’re doing an upgrade — a simple upgrade — but we’re also doing an F-55. I’m going to call it an F-55, and that’s going to be a substantial upgrade,” Trump told business leaders, noting that it will have two engines, “because an F-35 has a single engine, I don’t like single engines.”

“I think the most beautiful fighter jet in the world is the F-22 but we’re going to do an F-22 Super, and it’ll be a very modern version of the F-22 fighter jet,” he added.

Earlier this year, Trump announced a contract with Boeing to develop next-generation fighter jets.

“At my direction, the United States Air Force is moving forward with the world’s first sixth-generation fighter jet,” Trump said, adding that “nothing in the world comes even close it, and it’ll be known as F-47.”

“The generals picked the title and it’s a beautiful number, F-47, it’s something the likes of which nobody has seen before. In terms of all of the attributes of a fighter jet, there’s never been anything even close to it, from speed to maneuverability to what it can have, to payload,” he said, noting the fighter jet has “been in the works for a long period of time.”

“After a rigorous and thorough competition between some of America’s top aerospace companies, the Air Force is going to be awarding the contract for the next-generation air dominance platform to Boeing,” Trump announced.
