White House Flags, Trump’s $100K Patriotic Gift

President Donald Trump personally funded the installation of two towering American flags now standing on the North and South lawns of the White House. According to Fox News, each 88-foot flagpole cost $50,000 and was fully paid for by Trump, not U.S. taxpayers.

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle confirmed the patriotic gift, saying, “President Trump personally paid to install two big, beautiful American Flags to wave proudly over the White House for years to come.” Ingle added that the gesture was one of many Trump-funded projects designed to make the White House “more patriotic and beautiful.”

In April, President Trump visited the North Lawn to determine flag placement. Speaking to reporters after the survey, Trump said, “They’ve needed flag poles for 200 years. It was something I’ve often said, ‘You know, they don’t have a flag pole per se,’ so we’re putting one right where you saw us, and we’re putting another one on the other side, on top of the mounds.”

The flags were raised on June 18, and video footage captured President Trump overseeing the installation. One video showed the moment a flag was unfurled and caught in the breeze, waving over the lawn as a proud symbol of American heritage. The First Lady’s office also shared a video showing the flag rising over the South Lawn.

The flag installations contrast sharply with recent left-wing protests in which demonstrators burned the American flag. Trump has long condemned such acts. In 2020, he proposed jail time for anyone caught burning the flag, a position consistent with his public defense of national symbols.

The National Flag Foundation describes the U.S. flag as “a living symbol of our nation’s greatest victories and darkest struggles.” President Trump’s personal donation reflects that view and reinforces his ongoing commitment to American patriotism.
