President Trump has ordered that all American flags be flown at half-staff to honor the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).
“In honor of the remarkable life and achievements of Senator Lindsey Graham, a dear friend of mine, and a truly great man, who achieved so much for our Country, and his beloved Home State of South Carolina, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Saturday evening at 6 P.M,” he wrote on Truth Social. “GOD BLESS YOU LINDSEY!”
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R) also ordered flags to be at half-staff. “I have ordered the flags atop the State Capitol be lowered to half-staff in honor of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham and in recognition of his extraordinary legacy and lifetime of dedicated service,” he wrote on X.
Upon hearing of Graham’s death, McMaster said in a statement, “Peggy and I—and our children—are devastated. Lindsey Graham is irreplaceable. The fiercest of fighters for South Carolina and America—and a loyal and steadfast friend. We grieve with Darline, his family and his devoted staff. May God hold him gently in the palm of his hand. We shall not see his likes again.”
A preliminary examination by the District of Columbia’s medical examiner determined that Graham’s death was caused by “aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease,” Politico reports.
“The death certificate will be PENDING until all the toxicological and microscopic testing are finalized and at that point the death certificate will be updated to reflect the cause of death and appropriately classify the manner of death,” the statement added.
