Trump Ordered to Pay $83.3 Million in Defamation Case

A jury has awarded an additional $83.3 million to former advice columnist E. Jean Carroll in her defamation case against former President Donald Trump.

Carroll claimed that the former president damaged her reputation by calling her a liar after she accused him of sexual assault.

The verdict was delivered by a seven-man, two-woman jury Friday afternoon.

Carroll’s attorneys had reportedly requested $24 million in compensatory damages and “an unusually high punitive award.”

In May, a separate jury awarded Carroll $5 million after it found Trump was not liable for rape, but responsible for sexually abusing Carroll and then defaming her by claiming she made it up.

“Previously, I was known as simply as a journalist and had a column, and now I’m known as the liar, the fraud, and the whack job,” Carroll said in her testimony.

Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, told jurors that Carroll was after fame and money by accusing Trump of such allegations.

“This is far from over. We are just getting started. #MAGA#TrumpDerangementSyndrome,” Habba posted on X.
