The Trump administration launched a website for those seeking to be a part of the “gold card” visa program.
“FOR FIVE MILLION $DOLLARS, THE TRUMP CARD IS COMING!” President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Thousands have been calling and asking how they can sign up to ride a beautiful road in gaining access to the Greatest Country and Market anywhere in the World. It’s called THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! THE WAITING LIST IS NOW OPEN. To sign up, go to – TRUMPCARD.GOV.”
“The Trump Card is Coming,” the website says, featuring an image of Trump alongside the Statue of Liberty and a bald eagle. It offers applicants the opportunity to sign up to be notified “the moment access opens.”
“We’re going to be doing something that’s very good. We’re going to be selling a ‘Gold Card.’ You have a green card, this is a gold card,” Trump said in February. “We’re going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million, and that’s going to give you green card privileges, it’s going to be a route to citizenship, and wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card.”
“They’ll be wealthy, they’ll be successful, they’ll be spending a lot of money, paying taxes and employing a lot of people. We think it’s going to be extremely successful. Never been done before, anything like this,” he explained. “This is something we’re going to be putting out over the next two weeks.”
“Rather than having this sort of ridiculous EB-5 program, we’re going to end the EB-5 program, we’re going to replace it with the Trump Gold Card, which is really a green card,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick explained at the time. He noted that the process will have a vetting system to “make sure they’re wonderful, world-class global citizens.”
