President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a record-breaking surge in arrests and deportations of illegal aliens during the administration’s first 100 days. DHS reports that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have arrested more than 151,000 illegal aliens nationwide and deported over 135,000 individuals since January 20.
The DHS news release highlighted that arrests included 600 members of the violent Tren De Aragua gang, alongside thousands of MS-13 and 18th Street Gang members. Officials emphasized that these figures have already surpassed the totals from the entirety of Fiscal Year 2024, with enforcement operations showing no signs of slowing down.
In a major move, ICE executed a historic sting operation across Florida state, known as Operation Tidal Wave. Close to 800 illegal aliens were apprehended, including gang members, murderers, rapists, and drug traffickers. ICE agents worked alongside local law enforcement through the 287(g) program, which enables cooperation between federal agents and local police to expedite the identification and removal of criminal illegal aliens.
The Trump administration’s aggressive expansion of the 287(g) program has been a key driver of these results. At the end of former President Joe Biden’s term, only 134 law enforcement agencies had active 287(g) agreements with ICE. Today, over 500 police departments nationwide are partnering with ICE, dramatically improving the agency’s ability to capture and deport dangerous individuals.
DHS leadership praised the growing cooperation between federal and local authorities, crediting it with streamlining enforcement operations and significantly improving public safety. ICE officials pointed to the arrests of violent gang members and repeat offenders as proof that enhanced enforcement measures are necessary to protect American communities.
With major operations like Operation Tidal Wave underway and expanding 287(g) partnerships across the country, President Trump’s DHS is signaling a new era of rigorous border security and interior enforcement.
