On January 23, 2025, President Donald Trump declassifies assassination files related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. with his latest executive order.
Speaking from the Oval Office, President Trump stated, “Everything will be revealed,” emphasizing the administration’s commitment to transparency.
The executive order mandates the Director of National Intelligence and the Attorney General to develop a plan within 15 days to declassify the remaining JFK assassination records, and within 45 days for the RFK and MLK files.
This decision follows decades of public speculation and numerous conspiracy theories surrounding these high-profile assassinations.
In 1992, the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act was enacted, requiring the release of all related records by 2017. However, successive administrations delayed full disclosure due to national security concerns.
Advocacy groups, including those representing the Kennedy and King families, have long called for full disclosure to ensure accountability and help resolve lingering doubts about government involvement or negligence in these historic tragedies.
President Trump’s order aims to fulfill the government’s obligation to provide complete transparency regarding these historical events.
This is an ongoing story. Please check back for updates as the files are released.
