President Donald Trump labeled Democrats as “traitors” after they urged military members to disobey orders.
“It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL,” Trump declared. “Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand — We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET.”
“This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???” Trump added in a later post.
“SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!” he further stated.
President Trump’s comments stem from a video shared by Senators Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Reps Chris Deluzio (D-PA), Rep. Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), and Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO). The video urged military members to “refuse illegal orders.”
“Americans trust their military. But that trust is at risk,” the video said. “This administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens.”
The video comes as Slotkin introduced a bill called the No Troops in Our Streets Act, which aims to limit the Trump administration’s ability to deploy the National Guard in American cities. The legislation gives Congress the authority to stop military deployment with a majority vote.
Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) condemned the video, telling Fox News’ Harris Faulkner that the Democrats have “stage four Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
“It is inconceivable that you would have elected officials that are saying to uniform members of the military who have taken an oath to protect and defend, that they would defy the orders that they have been given to execute their mission,” she explained.
