Poll Reveals Trump Approval Ratings 2025 Are Strong

President Donald Trump is posting strong approval ratings just four weeks into his administration, with multiple polls showing him in positive territory among voters. Compared to his first term, Trump is seeing a much stronger reception from the public early on.

An Economist-YouGov poll released Wednesday found Trump with a net approval rating of +5% among 1,603 U.S. adults. 50% of respondents approve of his performance, including 32% who “strongly approve”, while 45% disapprove and 5% remain undecided. Among registered voters in the sample, Trump holds a 50% approval to 47% disapproval rating.

Partisan breakdowns reveal that Trump continues to command overwhelming support from his base, with 93% of Republicans approving, alongside 12% of Democrats and 44% of independents. The poll was conducted February 16-18 with a margin of error of ±3.3 percentage points for the full sample and ±3.2 percentage points for registered voters.

A separate Emerson College poll released Wednesday showed even stronger numbers, with Trump holding a +6% net approval rating. A 48% plurality approves of Trump’s job performance, compared to 42% who disapprove. Among party lines, 86% of Republicans approve, while 19% of Democrats and 40% of independents also give Trump positive marks. Emerson’s survey, conducted February 15-17, sampled 1,000 registered voters with a credibility interval of ±3 percentage points.

Additionally, a Morning Consult poll published Tuesday also showed Trump with a 50% approval rating among voters, with 47% disapproving. However, details on sample size and margin of error were unavailable without a subscription.

According to FiveThirtyEight’s polling average, Trump’s net approval rating stood at +2.5% as of February 19, 2025. This marks a significant improvement from his first term, where he held a -6.3% net approval rating at the same point in 2017.

These strong early numbers suggest that Trump is benefiting from a positive reception to his swift policy actions, including his crackdown on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, government spending reductions through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and his firm stance on immigration enforcement. With high approval among Republicans and notable support from independents, Trump is off to a politically advantageous start in his second term.
