Trump Announces Israel-Iran Ceasefire

President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that Israel and Iran have agreed to a “Complete and Total CEASEFIRE,” set to begin in approximately six hours, marking a potential end to the 12-day conflict that has roiled the Middle East. In his post, Trump declared the ceasefire would phase in over 24 hours, with Iran halting attacks first, followed by Israel 12 hours later, culminating in an “Official END” to what he called “THE 12 DAY WAR.” The announcement, unconfirmed by either Israel or Iran, has ignited a mix of cautious optimism, skepticism, and criticism globally, as the region grapples with escalating violence.

The entire post read:

“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED! Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL. On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, “THE 12 DAY WAR.” This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!

DONALD J. TRUMP,
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”

Trump’s post, made shortly after Iran launched missiles at a U.S. base in Qatar, claimed the ceasefire would prevent a conflict that “could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East.” He congratulated both nations for their “Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence” and thanked Iran for providing “early notice” of its Qatar attack, which he said resulted in no American casualties and minimal damage.

Neither Israel nor Iran has officially confirmed the ceasefire, and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei posted on X, “Those who know the Iranian people and their history know that the Iranian nation isn’t a nation that surrenders.”

The ceasefire’s fate remains uncertain as the clock ticks toward the six-hour deadline. Trump’s bold claim underscores his penchant for dramatic diplomacy. Still, without confirmation from Jerusalem or Tehran, the world watches warily, bracing for either peace or further chaos in a volatile region.
