Trump Destroys Inflation, Affordability Crisis Over

President Donald Trump celebrated the one-year anniversary of his 2024 election victory by highlighting a key accomplishment of his administration: turning around the affordability crisis left behind by Joe Biden. In a message on Truth Social, Trump praised the state of the economy and reiterated his administration’s commitment to lowering the cost of living.

“Affordability is our goal,” Trump declared, pointing to falling prices across the board—from gas to groceries—and a rebound in purchasing power for American families.

Since taking office in January 2025, Trump has overseen a sharp reversal in inflation trends. Under Biden, gas prices soared to over $5 a gallon and egg prices skyrocketed by 147 percent. Americans were paying nearly $11,500 more annually just to maintain their standard of living. In contrast, Trump’s first year has seen gas prices fall to their lowest October levels since 2020, with the national average now around $3.07 per gallon.

Grocery staples, including eggs, butter, fruit, and cereal, have all declined in price. Eggs alone are down more than 60 percent since February. Under Biden, egg prices had jumped by more than 227 percent.

Housing and rent prices have also stabilized. Mortgage rates have dipped since January, and rental growth is at its slowest pace in over four years. The result is improved home affordability and breathing room for working families.

The Trump administration passed a tax relief package that eliminated taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security income, delivering more than $10,000 in extra take-home pay for a typical family. This “big, beautiful bill,” as Trump called it, is credited with helping families keep more of what they earn.

Retailers are reflecting the economic shift. Walmart’s 2025 Thanksgiving meal basket will cost less than $4 per person, the lowest since the program began in 2022. The price for a 13.5-pound turkey has dropped to 97 cents per pound—its cheapest price in six years.

In sharp contrast, Biden’s final months saw grocery costs resume their climb and inflation remain persistent. Trump warned that cities embracing socialist policies, such as New York City’s election of Zohran Mamdani, are headed for collapse. He cautioned voters that affordability would continue to decline under Democrats pushing government expansion and price controls.

“If affordability is your issue, VOTE REPUBLICAN!” Trump said, noting the role of energy prices in lowering overall costs. “Energy costs… are plummeting — Getting close to 2 Dollar a gallon gasoline. When energy goes down, everything else follows.”
