Trump Admin Grants Millions Ahead of FIFA World Cup

The Trump administration is investing $100.3 million to bolster public transportation in cities hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Department of Transportation’s funding aims to meet the demand in services near stadiums during the events.

“DOT is doing its part to ensure the United States is ready to host the most spectacular World Cup in history,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in a statement. “We’re proud to partner with host cities to provide fans with a seamless travel experience that will be part of the memories they cherish from attending these historic games.”

Executive Director of the White House Task Force on the FIFA World Cup 2026, Andrew Giuliani, said the funding is “about preparing our communities to host the largest sporting event in history and ensuring the world sees America at its best. These investments will help create lasting memories for visitors and residents alike, and reinforce our commitment to safety, hospitality, and operational excellence.”

Meanwhile, Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA) announced that the Philadelphia area will receive $8 million in federal funds to support transportation infrastructure ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“With the world coming to Philadelphia in 2026, we have a responsibility to be ready,” he said. “I was proud to help secure this federal funding to strengthen our transit system so it can handle the surge in ridership during the World Cup. Just as importantly, these improvements will benefit Philadelphians long after the tournament ends.”

Last year, President Trump received the 2025 FIFA Peace Prize at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., during the World Cup final draw. The award recognizes President Trump’s “exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

“The FIFA Peace Prize is presented annually on behalf of the billions of football-loving people from around the world to a distinguished individual who exemplifies an unwavering commitment to advancing peace and unity throughout the world through their notable leadership and action,” Infantino added, reading from a certificate awarded to Trump.
