Title IX Enforcement Targets Gender Policy in Women’s Sports

The Trump Administration’s Departments of Education and Justice have launched a new Title IX Special Investigations Team (SIT) to combat the growing wave of gender ideology impacting female students and athletes. The SIT will focus on swift enforcement of President Trump’s executive order banning biological males from competing in female sports and will crack down on schools defying federal protections under Title IX.

The Department of Education stated that the new SIT is aimed at ensuring “timely, consistent resolutions to protect students, and especially female athletes,” from policies that allow males to access women’s teams and facilities. This move follows a sharp rise in Title IX complaints related to gender-based policies in Democrat-led states that have resisted the administration’s order.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon emphasized the administration’s stance: “From day one, the Trump Administration has prioritized enforcing Title IX to protect female students and athletes.” She noted the SIT would speed up investigations that previously took months or even years. “We will not allow you to get away with denying women’s civil rights any longer,” McMahon added.

The SIT will draw on experts from both the Department of Education and Department of Justice, including investigators, attorneys, and enforcement officials. This specialized team will apply a “rapid resolution investigation process” to Title IX complaints, a significant shift from the traditionally slow federal investigative pace.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi echoed the administration’s resolve: “Protecting women and women’s sports is a key priority for this Department of Justice.” She confirmed the SIT would leverage all legal tools available to protect female students’ civil rights.

The SIT initiative is directly linked to President Trump’s executive order, “Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports,” which mandates federal agencies to withdraw funding from educational institutions failing to enforce Title IX protections. The order upholds biological sex distinctions in education, declaring that fairness, safety, and dignity must be preserved for female students.

Additionally, Trump’s directive titled “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government” warns that replacing sex-based language and policy undermines not only women’s rights but the legitimacy of American governance.

As the SIT ramps up its operations, public schools, athletic associations, and universities found in violation of the executive orders could face serious legal and financial consequences.
