TikTok Spends Millions of Dollars on TV Ads

Social media platform TikTok has spent $2.1 million in television ads as the Senate is reviewing a bill that could force its parent company to sell the app.

According to a report from CNBC, TikTok is advertising in Nevada, Montana, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

The ads show what people would do without the platform.

“No doubt that I would not have found the success that I have today without TikTok,” a man says in the commercial.

“Think about the five million small business owners that rely on TikTok to provide for their families,” another says.

“We have got to make enough noise about this so that they don’t take away our voice,” an individual states.

Earlier this month, the House of Representatives passed a bill requiring Chinese company ByteDance to sell TikTok to an American company by a 352-65-1 vote, with 197 Republicans voting “Yea” while 15 voted “Nay.”

Among Democrats, 155 voted “Yea” and 50 voted “Nay.”

American Faith reported that former Trump administration Transportation Secretary Steven Mnuchin is purportedly organizing an investor group to purchase social media platform TikTok.

“I think the legislation should pass and I think it should be sold,” Mnuchin told CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

“It’s a great business and I’m going to put together a group to buy TikTok,” he explained. “This should be owned by U.S. businesses. There’s no way that the Chinese would ever let a U.S. company own something like this in China.”
