Thousands of Students Gather for Worship Service at University of Kentucky

More than 8,000 students participated in a revival service this week at the University of Kentucky.

Jennie Allen, founder of Unite US, told CBN News that students coming to Christ “keeps happening. It is insane.”

More than 8,000 students gathered in the Rupp Arena to worship.

“It is only God,” Allen explained. “There is a movement amongst students that you can’t believe. And even when you see it, you can’t believe it!”

College students across the United States have participated in worship services over the last two years.

Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, welcomed three times the town’s population in February 2023. The entire town of Wilmore is home to just 6,000 residents, with the student body totaling around 1,600.

In August 2024, several football players from Ohio State University led a revival night. Between 800 and 1,000 people attended the event. Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau, and former OSU wide receiver Kamryn Babb led the service, according to The Lantern, a student-run newspaper.

Babb told service attendees that he felt the “weight, the love, the grace, the mercy of God wrap [him] like a blanket” as his Uber driver prayed for him on his way to the John Glenn Columbus International Airport.

Service attendees later joined the players on stage to pray. Others wanted to be baptized.

A 2023 study found that people between the ages of 18-25 are adopting faith in a higher power or God. According to the Springtide Research Institute’s annual report, around one-third of respondents in this age group have faith in a higher power, up from one-quarter in 2021. The increase in belief has been attributed to the challenges faced during the pandemic, with young adults seeking solace in faith.
