A Democratic state representative for Tennessee, Aftyn Behn, interfered with an Immigration and Customs (ICE) operation near Nashville.
In a video shared to social media, Behn and a friend followed Tennessee Highway Patrol and ICE officers as they carried out their duties. The friend explained in the video that they followed the authorities to a gas station.
“They were leaving, and I left, too,” the friend in the video. “And then they pulled into another parking lot, and I pulled into the other parking lot behind them. Then they flipped their lights to pull us over and accused me of running a red light.
The video was shared by Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), who wrote on X, “Let’s be clear: [Nashville Mayor] Freddie O’Connell is enabling Nashville liberals to actively obstruct ICE and law enforcement operations.”
“This isn’t just reckless—it’s aiding and abetting,” Ogles said.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responded to the video, saying, “This Administration is not playing games with the lives and safety of our ICE officers. People doxxing our officers and impeding ICE operations are siding with vicious cartels, human traffickers, and violent criminals.”
“While sanctuary politicians are fighting for criminal illegal aliens, @POTUS Trump and @Sec_Noem are fighting for the victims of illegal alien crime,” the department said.
Rep. Ogles previously criticized Mayor Freddie O’Connell after he amended an executive order tracking “immigration communications.”
“Instead of applauding the heroic efforts of law enforcement for removing violent criminals, drug traffickers, and even a convicted child sex predator from our streets, Nashville’s mayor chose to grandstand—penning an executive order directing city agencies to track and potentially undermine cooperation with ICE,” the congressman said in a statement. “I want to remind Freddie that complying with federal immigration law is not optional. It is appalling that the mayor is using his office to obstruct lawful enforcement and shield criminals—not just putting neighborhoods at risk, but eroding the rule of law.”
