Taxpayers to Spend $Billions on Biden’s Affordable Care Act for DACA Illegal Immigrants

American taxpayers would have to pay over $4,500 per illegal immigrant.

QUICK FACTS:
  • American citizens would subsidize billions of dollars in Joe Biden’s Affordable Care Act benefits for illegal immigrants enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
  • The cost of Biden’s plan to open Obamacare and Medicaid rolls to thousands of DACA members would cost taxpayers roughly $4,600 per illegal immigrant.
  • According to the Migration Policy Institute, 589,660 illegal immigrants take part in DACA.
  • American taxpayers may ultimately be paying closer to $2.8 billion every year if Biden’s push for Obamacare and Medicaid for those enrolled in DACA is successful.
  • According to Christ Conover, formerly with the Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research at Duke University, Americans already pay over $18 billion in healthcare for illegal immigrants living in the US.
STATEMENT FROM BIDEN:
  • “Today, my Administration is announcing our plan to expand health coverage for Dreamers, the thousands of young people brought to the U.S. as kids,” the POTUS account tweeted on Thursday.
  • “This country is the only home they have ever known,” Biden says in a video. “They’re our friends. They’re our coworkers. They study. They work hard. They start businesses. Many have served in our military and many were our essential workers in the front lines of the pandemic.”
  • “They’re American in every way–except on paper,” Biden adds.
  • “So today, my Administration is announcing our plan to expand health coverage for DACA recipients by allowing them to enroll in a plan through the Affordable Care Act or through Medicaid,” he continues. “Health care should be a right, not a privilege.”
BACKGROUND:
  • California has been the first and only state in the U.S. to provide free healthcare to illegal residents.
  • While the measure was signed in 2022, the plan is set to begin in 2024, costing Californians over $2 billion annually.
  • At the time, California Governor Gavin Newsom tweeted, “This is what being ‘pro-life’ ACTUALLY looks like.”
