New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani backtracked on an initiative that would require an ID for city-run grocery stores following widespread backlash and mockery.
The Seattle City Council unanimously passed an emergency ordinance Tuesday banning “restrictive covenants” that prevent new grocery stores and pharmacies from opening in locations previously used for those purposes.
Sun Fresh Market, a city-funded grocery store in Kansas City, Missouri, is struggling despite millions in taxpayer investment. The store opened in 2018 as part of an effort to revitalize the city’s east side and combat food insecurity.
