Support Grows for Florida Man Charged in LGBTQ Intersection Incident, Tim Pool Contributes $10,000

Tim Pool announced on Monday that he had contributed $10,000 to the legal defense fund for a 19-year-old Florida man facing felony charges for performing burnouts at an intersection painted with LGBTQ colors.

In a post on X, Pool wrote, “Here’s a headline for the woke cult. I just sent $10k for homies legal defense. He was charged with a felony for burning out as he turned while driving over a cultist flag painting.”

Dylan Brewer, 19, turned himself in early February and faces charges of felony criminal mischief over $1,000 and reckless driving.

The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, February 4, at the intersection of Northeast 1st Street and Northeast 2nd Avenue, according to city officials. Traffic camera footage captured a large black truck with a flag attached to the back revving its engine, skidding around the corner, and leaving a streak of burned rubber.

The Palm Beach County Human Rights Council has urged law enforcement to classify Brewer’s actions as a “hate crime.”

“I think a big problem is with our judiciary who doesn’t understand hate crimes are hate crimes, whether or not they fit the specific definition of the law,” said Rand Hoch, president and founder of the council. “There needs to be consequences so people know if they commit crimes like this, they are going to jail, they are going to be fined; they are going to have to suffer from what they did.”

The $16,000 crosswalk, funded by the PBCHRC and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation in 2021, served as the backdrop for Brewer’s actions. A fundraiser on GiveSendGo has amassed over $20,000 in support of Brewer’s legal defense.

“This fund not only supports Brewer’s legal defense but also champions the fundamental American values of freedom of expression and the right to a fair trial. By contributing, you stand for the principles that underpin our democracy, advocating for a balanced and just examination of the case. Your support not only aids Dylan Brewer but also underscores the importance of liberty and justice in our society,” the fundraiser stated.
