The State Department has made available an additional 250,000 passports bearing President Trump’s image. The “Patriot Passport,” which commemorates the nation’s 250th anniversary, previously saw limited availability. It was originally only offered at the Washington Passport Agency, but has since been expanded to be made available across the country.
“Since its release in celebration of 250 years of American independence, the commemorative passport has generated extraordinary public interest,” the State Department explained, noting that the interest has led it to expand access “so Americans across the country can obtain this unique and special document. The Department is hosting application events at passport agencies and centers for patriots all across our nation.”
The passport features artwork of President Trump alongside the text of the Declaration of Independence, a Freedom 250 flag, and an image of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration.
State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott told Fox News ahead of the passports’ initial launch: “As the United States celebrates America’s 250th anniversary in July, the State Department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed US passports to commemorate this historic occasion.”
Pigott added that the design will continue “maintaining the same security features that make the US Passport the most secure document in the world.”
Passport agencies in Chicago; Dallas; Detroit; Minneapolis; New Orleans; Connecticut; Centennial, Colorado; New York; and Stamford, Connecticut; Los Angeles; Boston; Buffalo; and other locations, will offer the passports.
Those wanting to obtain the commemorative passport must make an in-person appointment for the day specified at the various locations.
