State Department Expresses Condolences to Adversary Iranian President’s Death

The State Department offered condolences to Iran after the death of its president, Ebrahim Raisi.

Raisi was also known as “The Butcher of Tehran” for killing political dissidents following the Islamic revolution in 1979.

“The United States expresses its official condolences for the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and other members of their delegation in a helicopter crash in northwest Iran,” a press release from the State Department reads. “As Iran selects a new president, we reaffirm our support for the Iranian people and their struggle for human rights and fundamental freedoms.”

Iran’s Islamic Regime has been a U.S. adversary for decades.

The statement is a “gut punch for anyone that served in Afghanistan,” X user Shawn Maguire wrote.

While the United States expressed its condolences, others celebrated Raisi’s death.

Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad said the plane crash claiming Raisi’s life is the “only crash in history where everyone is worried if someone survived.”

Reza Pahlavi, the Crown Prince of Iran, said in a statement that Iranians are “not in mourning,” calling Raisi a “brutal mass-murderer unbefitting of condolences.”

“Sympathy with him is an insult to his victims and the Iranian nation whose only regret is that he did not live long enough to see the fall of the Islamic Republic and face trial for his crimes— a fair trial of which he robbed so many of his innocent victims in his decades of depravity.”

“The loss of the regime’s president and foreign minister will not alter the course or the policies of the Islamic Republic and its dictator, Ali Khamenei,” Pahlavi continued. “This regime will continue its repression at home and aggression abroad. Therefore, we will not allow their deaths to alter the course of the Iranian nation as it continues the fight for liberation, dignity, and national revival.”

“The people of Iran deserve the right to freely and fairly elect their leaders and they do not accept this regime’s upcoming sham elections nor the illegitimate tyrant Ali Khamenei who has pre-determined their outcome.”
