Starmer to Resign as British PM

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that he would be resigning. “The question my party is asking now is whether I am best placed to lead us into the next general election. I have heard the answer of my parliamentary party to that question, and I accept that answer with good grace,” he announced, adding, “I will ask the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party to set out a timetable with nominations opening on 9 July and completed by the summer recess. In the case of a contest, this will ensure a new leader is in place before Parliament returns in September.”

Starmer noted that he will remain in his position “until the contest is complete” and will “do everything I can to ensure an orderly handover of power.”

Prior to the announcement, President Trump predicted that Starmer would resign. “Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of The United Kingdom,” he wrote on Truth Social. “He failed badly on two very important subjects- IMMIGRATION AND ENERGY (OPEN NORTH SEA OIL!). I wish him well!”

The news follows the recent release of the “Rape Gang Inquiry Report” by Restore Britain Member of Parliament Rupert Lowe. “Organised networks of perpetrators built coordinated operations that transported victims between locations, supplied them with drugs and alcohol, recorded abuse for distribution and blackmail, and passed girls between multiple adult men,” the report states. “These crimes have been committed for decades, since the 1950s by Pakistanis in particular, and have affected every region of our nation.”

A 2025 poll ranked Starmer as the least popular British prime minister.
