House Speaker Mike Johnson (R‑La.) revealed the Republican strategy following passage of President Trump’s signature legislation, dubbed the “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” Speaking on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures, Johnson said the House GOP will employ the budget reconciliation process—bypassing Democrats—to pass two or three major bills over the fall and next spring.
He outlined plans for legislation focused on fiscal responsibility, including rescissions, reducing waste, fraud, and abuse, and codifying nearly 30 Trump executive orders into permanent law. Johnson emphasized that this is just the first step in a multi-phase agenda.
Johnson described the “Big, Beautiful Bill” as a landmark achievement fulfilling MAGA priorities: tax cuts, border security, and spending reforms. It passed along party lines and already embedded key executive orders into law, moving from temporary policy to statutory permanence.
