Senior executives with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are reportedly considering retirement after being “stunned” by President-elect Donald Trump’s victory.
FBI sources told The Washington Times that those in charge of the agency were “shell-shocked” by the election outcome.
“You know the fit test? How they let the standards slack on the fit test? Everyone’s going to have a real problem when they’re running for the door,” one source told the outlet, referring to physical fitness requirements.
Another source said Trump’s win is a “countdown for Wray because [people here] don’t think he will stay to get fired after what Trump did to Comey.”
Some FBI executives may move to Washington D.C.’s private security job market, insiders explained.
FBI whistleblower George Hill told the outlet, “I have friends still at the Bureau telling me that no less than 50 Senior Executives (SES) are scrambling to retire ASAP,” adding that the agency is “frazzled.”
Another individual familiar with developments at the FBI said employees are concerned about the possibility of Elon Musk heading an efficiency commission.
“Try to find a person that’s actually working. That may be the biggest problem there—that there’s no efficiency,” the source said. “So that’s actually the bigger threat. If you’re going to try to make the government efficient, you would start with the FBI, because if you do politics all the time, you’re probably bloated.”
