Roblox, one of the world’s most popular online gaming platforms for children and teens, has banned and issued a cease-and-desist letter to a YouTuber known for confronting alleged predators on its platform. The 22-year-old creator, “Schlep,” who has 684,000 subscribers, says the company is threatening legal action because of his predator-catching investigations.
According to the letter posted by Schlep on X, Roblox accused him of “unauthorized and harmful activities” that undermine its safety efforts and “expose users to increased risk.” The company claimed Schlep engaged in “simulated child endangerment conversations,” solicited personal information, and moved conversations off-platform. Roblox said his failure to report activity through its official channels interfered with established safety protocols.
Roblox stated it is “committed to aggressively combating illegal and harmful conduct” through dedicated safety teams, moderation systems, and law enforcement partnerships. While acknowledging Schlep’s stated intent to protect children, the company insisted his methods were putting users at greater risk.
Schlep denied wrongdoing, saying his work has led to six predator arrests within the Roblox community in the past year. He argued that banning accounts tied to active investigations could prevent predators from facing real-world consequences. He also claimed most of his investigative chats took place on Discord, not Roblox, and were conducted with care to avoid entrapment.
The YouTuber shared that he was groomed on Roblox as a child by a popular developer, an ordeal that led to a suicide attempt. His mother reported the abuse at the time, but Schlep alleges Roblox “brushed her off,” allowing the predator to continue until years later.
The dispute adds to ongoing scrutiny of Roblox and Discord, both of which face lawsuits alleging their platforms facilitated child exploitation.
