More than a dozen Republican senators are urging President Trump to consider a statue of Charlie Kirk in the National Garden of American Heroes.
Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) wrote in a letter to President Trump that including Kirk in the National Garden “would not only honor his personal
achievements but would also underscore the vital role that civic engagement plays in our national heritage.”
“Recognizing leaders who encourage participation and dialogue ensures that the Garden reflects both the historical and contemporary voices that continue to shape America,” the letter read.
Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, backs the project. “My husband’s life was so incredible. Charlie forever changed the direction of this country, and he made it better place for our children, young people, and families. Charlie’s legacy will be felt for generations to come,” she stated.
“My husband was a modern American Founding Father, and he deserves every honor and accolade this nation can bestow on him,” Kirk said. “I am grateful to Senator Cassidy and the 14 other senators who have nominated Charlie for this tremendous honor.”
Senators Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Mike Lee (R-UT), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Katie Britt (R-AL), John Cornyn (R-TX), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), James Lankford (R-OK), Ted Budd (R-NC), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Pete Ricketts (R-NE), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Bernie Moreno (R-OH), and Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) joined Cassidy in the letter.
Similarly, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) wrote a letter in September calling for a statue of Charlie Kirk to be placed in the U.S. Capitol.
The letter, addressed to House Speaker Mike Johnson and signed by 15 GOP lawmakers, says, “To honor this legacy, we call upon you to direct that a statue of Charlie Kirk be placed in the United States Capitol. This is not a symbolic gesture, but a permanent testament to his life’s work, his courage and his sacrifice. It will stand as a reminder that political disagreement must never be answered with violence, and that the fight for truth must carry on.”
