Republicans Call for Charlie Kirk Statue in Capitol

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) circulated a letter calling for a statue of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk to be placed in the U.S. Capitol.

The letter, addressed to House Speaker Mike Johnson and signed by 15 GOP lawmakers, says, “To honor this legacy, we call upon you to direct that a statue of Charlie Kirk be placed in the United States Capitol. This is not a symbolic gesture, but a permanent testament to his life’s work, his courage and his sacrifice. It will stand as a reminder that political disagreement must never be answered with violence, and that the fight for truth must carry on.”

The letter honors Kirk’s family, faith, and “unapologetic defense of our Constitution.”

“He reminded this nation that our values–faith, family, and freedom—are not negotiable,” the lawmakers’ wrote. “He loved Jesus Christ with his whole heart, and it was that love that gave him the courage to stand strong in the face of hostility.”

Republicans Reps. Andy Ogles (TN), Lauren Boebert (CO), Andy Biggs (AZ), Dan Newhouse (WA), Barry Moore (AL), Derrick Van Orden (WI), Byron Donalds (FL), Mary Miller (IL), Michael Rulli (OH), Jefferson Van Drew (NJ), Pat Fallon (TX), Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA), Randy Fine (FL), Eric Burlison (MO), and Tony Gonzales (TX) joined Luna in the letter.

“I owe my entire political career to Charlie Kirk,” Luna wrote on social media. “I would quite literally not be in office today if it weren’t for him. Even when my own party was working against me, Charlie endorsed me and campaigned to help me win election.” She said the statue would honor Kirk’s legacy and “serve as a permanent testament to his life, work, and sacrifice.”
