Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) suggested that Elon Musk replace Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) as House Speaker.
“The Speaker of the House need not be a member of Congress,” Paul wrote on X. “Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk…think about it…nothing’s impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka ‘uniparty,’ lose their ever-lovin’ minds)”
Musk has not responded to the suggestion.
The entrepreneur, alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“Unless @DOGE ends the careers of deceitful, pork-barrel politicians, the waste and corruption will never stop,” Musk wrote on X. “Therefore, there is no choice but to do so. I wish there was another way, but there is not.”
Musk’s criticism of the recent continuing resolution led to it getting scrapped, American Faith reported. Musk wrote on X, “Any member of the House or Senate who votes for this outrageous spending bill deserves to be voted out in 2 years!”
DOGE condemned the spending bill on social media, noting that the more than 1,500-paged document gave pay increases to members of Congress, provided funding for a new football stadium, included 72 pages of “Pandemic Preparedness and Response” policy, and renewed the “Global Engagement Center,” which is currently involved in a censorship lawsuit.
President-elect Donald Trump said Johnson can “easily remain Speaker” if he “acts decisively, and tough, and gets rid of all of the traps being set by the Democrats, which will economically and, in other ways, destroy our country,” he told Fox News.
“Anybody that supports a bill that doesn’t take care of the Democrat quicksand known as the debt ceiling should be primaried and disposed of as quickly as possible,” he added.
