Qatar Airways Purchases Boeing Jets

Qatar Airways signed a deal to purchase 160 Boeing jets. Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg signed the agreement with Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer while sitting at a table with President Donald Trump and Qatari emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

“This is Boeing’s largest-ever widebody order and largest-ever 787 order,” the White House said.

GE Aerospace also secured an order from Qatar Airways for 777X aircraft.

The agreement comes as President Trump signed an agreement with Qatar to “generate an economic exchange worth at least $1.2 trillion.”

The economic partnership further includes an agreement between McDermott and Qatar Energy involving seven projects worth $8.5 billion. “As the sole provider of offshore components for Qatar’s major LNG expansion, McDermott’s work directly supports thousands of U.S. energy sector jobs,” the White House explained.

Engineering company Parsons also secured 30 projects valued at up to $97 billion, while technology company Quantinuum finalized an agreement with Qatari company AI Rabban Capital to “invest up to $1 billion in state-of-the-art quantum technologies and workforce development in the United States, supporting U.S. jobs and leadership in this critical emerging technology.”

Detailing defense agreements, the White House fact sheet noted that Raytheon secured a $1 billion agreement for counter-drone capabilities, while General Atomics secured a nearly $2 billion agreement for Qatar to acquire the MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft system.

The commitment builds upon President Trump’s $600 billion commitment with Saudi Arabia, which will “strengthen our energy security, defense industry, technology leadership, and access to global infrastructure and critical minerals,” the White House said.
