Pro-Lifers Demand Investigation into Discovery of Aborted Babies

Pro-Life organizations have called for an investigation into the discovery of aborted babies in Washington, D.C. in 2022.

In a letter sent to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, the organizations wrote that some of the babies found aborted were large enough to be considered “possible violations of the Partial-Birth Abortion Act and the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act.”

“In 2022, pro-life activists in Washington, D.C., discovered possible violations of the Partial-Birth Abortion Act and the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act. Being vigilant citizens, they alerted the D.C. police,” the letter says. “Tragically, rather than investigate the incident properly, the Biden Administration worked to sweep the allegations under the rug and silence the individuals involved by prosecuting them.”

“We, as leaders of the Pro-Life Movement, respectfully ask that you conduct a proper investigation into the suspected violations of the Partial-Birth Abortion Act and the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act in connection with the D.C. Five,” the letter adds. “As the Interim United States Attorney for Washington, D.C., it is your responsibility to follow the facts where they may lead and enforce federal law to protect those most vulnerable in our nation’s capital: the unborn.”

The letter was signed by Advancing American Freedom, Students for Life of America, Family Research Council, Human Coalition, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Concerned Women for America, Live Action, Catholic Vote, and the American Family Association.

Following the 2022 incident, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) accused D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith, and Chief Medical Examiner Francisco Diaz of obstructing justice after they failed to investigate the babies’ deaths, The Daily Signal reported at the time.

In 2024, Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) demanded that Diaz conduct autopsies on the babies. “The humanity of these children is incontrovertible. They were human beings, weeks from birth, growing just as we all do from conception to natural death and they were brutally killed by abortion,” he said last year. “While other forms of abortion tragically remain legal, one kind—partial-birth abortion—was prohibited by Congress over 20 years ago. As such, my colleagues and I will continue to press for justice in this case until those responsible for obstructing it are held accountable.”
