The 2024 campaign team for Donald Trump has stated that the former president will not participate in a planned debate with Vice President Kamala Harris until she officially secures the Democratic nomination.
“Given the continued political chaos surrounding Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, general election debate details cannot be finalized until Democrats formally decide on their nominee,” the statement read. “There is a strong sense by many in the Democrat Party – namely Barack Hussein Obama – that Kamala Harris is a Marxist fraud who cannot beat President Trump, and they are still holding out for someone ‘better.'”
“Therefore, it would be inappropriate to schedule things with Harris because Democrats very well could still change their minds.”
Following his win in the 2024 Democratic primary, President Biden exited the race last Sunday, throwing his support behind Harris.
At a recent press conference, Trump expressed his willingness to engage in multiple debates with Harris but criticized ABC as a purveyor of misinformation. ABC had been slated to host a debate between Trump and Biden.
In a post on X this Thursday, Harris highlighted Trump’s hesitancy regarding the September 10th debate, stressing that voters have a right to witness the contrasting views on a debate stage. “I’m prepared. Let’s do this,” she emphasized.
On Thursday night, Steven Cheung, director of communications for Trump’s campaign, remarked it would be “premature to arrange any debates with Harris given the possibility of Democrats selecting another candidate.”
Cheung further mentioned, “There’s a widespread belief among many in the Democratic Party, including Barack Hussein Obama, that Kamala Harris, whom they see as a Marxist imposter, doesn’t have what it takes to defeat President Trump. They’re possibly holding out for a different candidate.”
Early Friday, Barack Obama, along with Michelle Obama, issued a joint statement of endorsement for Harris.
