Planned Parenthood Begins Selling Beauty Services Amid Funding Loss

Planned Parenthoods near Sacramento are now offering beauty services in an effort to revive its sites after the Trump administration pulled millions of dollars in federal funding.

Chief Medical Officer for Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Dr. Laura Dalton, told KCRA the establishment is “resilient and innovative, and I like to say that when faced with a crisis, our doors did not close. They opened wider.” She added, “We’re providing [a] neurotoxin which is commonly referred to as Botox. And hopefully in a few weeks we’ll be launching fillers and sclerotherapy.”

“If you were going to get this service anyways and you want to support Planned Parenthood, why not do it together?” Dalton said.

A patient told the outlet that they are “personally interested in receiving Botox now and again, and I’d be going somewhere to do that anyway. The fact that I now get to do that Planned Parenthood and am supporting the effort to offset the devastating budget cuts they’ve experienced.”

Last month, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) signed a bill giving millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood. Under Senate Bill 106, “up to $90,000,000 is available for funding grants to family planning providers for the provision of family planning services and family planning-related services.”

The bill’s funding follows California’s dedication to provide $140 million to Planned Parenthood last fall.

Five Planned Parenthood clinics shut down across California in July following the One Big Beautiful Bill, which prohibits Medicaid funding for health centers that both provide abortions and received more than $800,000 in federal reimbursements the previous year.
